Best Nature Attractions in Beacon, New York

While New York is a beautiful place to visit during warmer weather, there’s a lot to see during the snowy winters and fall foliage months. On the eastern side of the state, you’ll find the Hudson Valley area and Beacon, N.Y. If you’re a lover of nature, there are a few different places that we recommend you stop to soak in the beauty and peace that nature provides.

This transformed brownfield is now a regional park that provides beautiful walking areas. Many of the areas are paved, so it’s perfect for a family walk with a stroller or wagon. Along the way, you’ll find various works of art and educational stops. This is the perfect example of taking a wasted plot of land and transforming it into something that New York can be proud of. Embracing the Hudson Valley waterfront is completed, and you can also enjoy picturesque mountain views.

Mount Beacon Park is the perfect location for a moderately challenged hike that provides a beautiful scenic reward at the top. It’s a steep hill, but there are plenty of switchbacks along the way that make this a doable hike for all skill levels. The beginning is rich with history thanks to a trail along the Beacon Incline Railway. There are also observation platforms at the top of the stairs that give you a panoramic view that features the Hudson Highlands and Catskill Mountains. You can also choose to hike 60 feet up the South Mount Beacon fire tower for a more unique view. If air quality conditions are proper, you can see all the way to Manhattan from your viewpoint.
