Named so that my initials would spell "art", born with a passion and love for jewelry, I took the plastic rings off my crib blanket and decorated my arms and ankles at three months old.

I was called "The Baby Who Cried for Diamonds", by the jewelry store that used to re-string my mother's pearls.

Our family's German landlady came to America after narrowly escaping the Nazis. Mrs. Kaplan had rescued her personal collection of antique Venetian glass and African trade beads. She passed her love of these exquisite works of art to me.

Combining antique and contemporary glass beads with precious and semi-precious I knot each bead into place by hand, of critical importance when using beads of differing sizes and material, creatiing my jewelry the time-honored tradional way, one bead at a time, one knot at a time.

My domain name is based upon my craft, designing jewelry with beads, and name given to me by my Cherokee grandfather "Bear".
