Beatrice Cook

My name is Beatrice Cook. I attend the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg for my Bachelor's degree in Communications. I am currently in my Junior year. I plan to graduate in spring of 2025. I live in Greensburg, Pa. I am currently on the Pitt Greensburg softball and bowling teams. I am also part of the Outdoor Adventure and Community Service (OACS) and Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) clubs. I have been a student worker for the athletic department for the last three years here. I do many different game day operations from ball running, to spotting, to filming to operating the score board. More recently I have been the Student Intern for the athletic department this semester. I have been lucky enough to become more involved in gameday operations. I am learning the stat intakes for different sports and take gameday photos for basketball and give recap post on the games to the social media accounts. I plan to continue working like this into next semester.

Some ask me why I am a Pirates fan. The short answer I give is because I grew up in Pittsburgh and love the game of baseball. What some people do not know is that Andrew McCutchen was the reason I started to be an outfielder. McCutchen's work ethic and enthusiasm for the game is what made me want to pursue in being an outfielder. Growing up no one wanted to be an outfielder but after watching McCutchen play, I realized I wanted to be the best outfielder I could be. I learned how to strengthen my skill because when I was only 13 playing with 18-year-olds. So, I had to learn how to be faster, stronger, and better than most girls my age or older than me.

I am looking for a summer internship that will help set me up for my future career. I would like to work on a sports team, preferably a baseball team of some level. I would like to participate in the gameday photography and gameday operations. I am always willing to learn more in the industry if given the chance. I want to be able to give back to young athletes. I want to be able to show them that they can reach their goals and dreams if they put in the work. I want to especially help young female athletes to see they can be successful in their career and their sport.
