I am a sophomore currently studying English and Communication at Boston University. I very active on campus; I am part of a club that sells grilled cheese and donates all of the money made towards ending world hunger. I also play the piano and the cello, and dance in a cardio jazz group.
Currently, some fellow students and I are advocating for nonsmokers' rights.
Because BU is a large university with students of many different nationalities and cultures, there is a big smoking presence on campus. It is almost impossible to go a day without breathing in the smell of tobacco. Being a student with asthma, I am very aware of how this smoky interaction affects my health.
My advocacy group and I are not asking people to stop smoking. That is not our goal. We just want people to be aware of how where they smoke affects others.
