Brian A.F. Beckstrom

Waverly, IA

I am deeply passionate about the church, leadership, mission, higher education, and vocational discernment. My greatest joy is accompanying leaders, especially young adults, as they discover how the Spirit is forming them for God's mission.

Those who have worked with me would tell you that I love to ask questions. I believe they are powerful tools for encouraging self understanding, getting to the heart of challenges, and discovering new and innovative ways to do God's work. In order to ask questions one must of course be collaborative and relational, which I most certainly am.

Currently I'm helping reimagine campus ministry through discernment, leadership formation, and digital ministry. I teach in our Religion Department and Leadership program and am working on my Doctor of Ministry degree at Luther Seminary.

I also like to write. I'm a regular contributor to Living Lutheran (http://www.elca.org/living-lutheran/), blog, and have been published in the Journal of Lutheran Ethics. In addition I have made numerous presentations at academic conferences and to Church groups.

My wife Josie is a Nurse and we have two kids, Soren & Linnea. My hobbies include reading, spending time with my family, and competing in triathlons.
