As Social Media and Compliance Specialist for Actiance, Inc, Joanna Belbey helps regulated firms be “social” effectively while complying with industry rules and regulations. Joanna is a contributor to Forbes.com and is an enthusiastic user of social media (follow her on Twitter @belbey). Joanna is recognized as an expert on compliance for electronic communications and recent speaking engagements include South By Southwest (SXSW), American Health Insurance Plan Institute (AHIP) and the Social Shakeup. Joanna also was invited by NASA to attend the testing of a RS-25 engine test so she could share it on social media. Other speaking engagements include Social Media Week, SIFMA Social Media Seminar, SIFMA Tech Leaders Forum 2012, OpenText, Social Media World Forum, Utilities + Energy Compliance, JD Power Financial Services Social Media Roundtable, Annual Digital Marketing Services Summit, and multiple Business Development Institute events.

Joanna joined Actiance after running a financial services compliance training firm for several years. Prior to that, she led content development, marketing strategy and delivery for as many as 350 financial services compliance educational programs per year at FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) for 6 years.

In addition to social media and compliance, Joanna has a passion for films and filmmaking. Her short film, "India: A Tourist's View", premiered at The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival in May 2014 and was an official selection at the Hoboken International Film Festival, The Golden Door Film Festival and the YoFi Fest (Yonkers Film Fest). Her latest effort, “New York Passport”, a TV pilot for travel series, is an official selection in Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards (LAIFFA) and the Jersey City International Television and Film Fest.

She splits her time with her husband, Jerry, between Jersey City and Williamsburg, Brooklyn and is an avid traveler to Asia.
