Bello Family Vineyards founder Michael Bello embarked on his goal of making an exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon in 2000 when he purchased a prime piece of real estate in the Rutherford Bench district of California’s Napa Valley. He used this site to create a boutique wine making operation that was unique to the Napa Valley region, constructing a French-inspired farmhouse and establishing a quaint family estate. He subsequently enlisted the efforts of skilled Ross Wallace, a graduate of Fresno State University who holds a bachelor of science in food and nutritional science with a focus in enology, to serve as the company’s winemaker. Bello Family Vineyards currently produces acclaimed Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, Megahertz Cabernet Sauvignon and Alexandrie Sparkling Wine.

The company’s wines are available for sale through its online wine store at www.bellofamilyvineyards.com. Interested parties can also join the company mailing list and become Wine Club members. Both the Megahertz Wine Club and the Run for the Roses Wine Club provide members with three-bottle shipments of wine four times each year. Membership also includes a 15 percent discount on additional wine and merchandise purchases.

2015 RUTHERFORD

CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The Vintage:

The 2015 growing season in Napa Valley started out with unseasonably warm temperatures in the late winter and early spring. This resulted in an early bud break and bloom. Colder temperatures in May resulted in much smaller crop. As a result, we worked hand-in-hand with our vineyard crew to ensure we picked and crushed only the best quality grapes. The harvest was one of the earliest on record in Napa Valley, beginning on July 22 with the picking of grapes for sparkling wine, and concluding for most all vintners and growers in the valley by mid-October. These growing conditions resulted in high quality grapes but low yields.

Tasting Notes:

Rutherford dust typicity, beautiful opaque, dense ruby/purple color, a classic sweet nose of blackcurrants, licorice and sweet oak. Elegant fresh raspberry, blueberry and cherry notes carry through the mid pallet. The wine finishes with long velvety sweet tannin, bitter sweet chocolate and raspberry. Rich, broad and flavorful with good acidity, the wine is accessible, but should age effortlessly for 15 or more years.
