James B. (Ben) Deaton is a structural engineer and PhD candidate at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he works to develop numerical models to simulate collapsing concrete buildings during earthquakes.
His primary professional interests include structural engineering and mechanics, large-scale structural simulation, nonlinear constitutive modeling, failure analysis, development of practical structural analysis and design software, and the integration of sound technical design principles with structural aesthetics.
