Benjamin McCarthy is currently enrolled as a junior at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY. There, he studies post-conflict development and issues of political economy in third-world emerging markets. His work has a particular regional focus on Sub-Saharan Africa in addition to the 'Muslim world' (North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia). He has interned as a policy analyst for the Drug Policy Alliance in their New York City headquarters, tutored ESL students at Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown, MA, dispatched a 90-cab fleet of drivers over a radio for Bay State Taxi in Brookline, MA, and volunteered for numerous elections on each level of government including most recently that of Senator Elizabeth Warren in her Charlestown, MA, headquarters. He works for the Sarah Lawrence Office of Admissions both in the office and as a tour guide, is the president of the junior class there, and is a member of Student Senate, Student Activities Subcommittee, and Students for Students Scholarship Funds. He plays piano for the Sarah Lawrence blues and jazz ensembles, speaks fluent French, and enjoys meeting new people.
