Benjamin Rivera is a junior at Muchin college prep. He was born in Puerto Rico and was raised in Chicago Illinois’s Humboldt park community. Benjamin is a participant of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) focusing on art and creating a mural for the community. He also participated in SYEP the summer of last year (2012). Benjamin, age 17, also participated in the After School Matters Music Video Production program during his sophomore year.
Benjamin has four siblings: three brothers and one sister who is the youngest. Benjamin is the second oldest in his family.
Benjamin’s favorite genre in music is Electic Dance Music (EDM). His top favorite artist are Flosstradamus and Bro Safari.
Benjamin goal in life is to have have a job related to art that pays well. he is very open-minded when it comes to participating in activities and programs. Benjamin has done many community murals in his past. His first mural was in his 6th grade summer class at Pulaski International School where he learned how to paint and do mosaics.
Benjamin has lots of hobbies. His favorite sport is swimming and played baseball for his school in freshman year. Benjamin enjoys watching youtube videos and looking at fixed gear bikes online. He hopes to own a fixed gear in his future to help the planet reduce the amount of CO2 being burned. He also enjoys learning new things.
