Ben Katz

He is Advisor & Principal at DVDXpress, the nation’s 3rd largest DVD Rental Kiosk network. Ben led the acquisition of DVDXpress from Coinstar’s RedBox division in 2010, in a partnership with leading video industry executives. DVDXpress operates at A&P, PathMark and hundreds of other grocery stores.

Ben serves as a Senior Director at Green Dot, the largest seller of prepaid financial services in the USA, at over 55,000 locations including Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, RiteAid and 7-Eleven.

Before Green Dot, Ben was the first business hire at, a next-generation walk-up bill pay solution at 7-Eleven backed by True Ventures, Maveron, Khosla Ventures and August Capital.

In 2009, Ben teamed with the #1 selling comedian, Jeff Dunham, to produce The Jeff Dunham iPhone App, which was an "AppStore Top 10 App".

In 2007, Ben founded Etchstar, a leading consumer electronics customizer. The company created The Beatles iPod and secured hundreds of licenses to leading IP including Major League Baseball, the NBA, Marvel Comics, The Simpsons, Star Trek and Barbie. A Best Buy partnership brought iPod engraving to brick & mortar. Etchstar was acquired and rebranded in December 2008, also founded by Ben.

In 2005, as a film producer, Ben produced JOHNNY WAS, NAILED and other movies and television programs.

Previously, Ben was an investment-banking Associate in Deutsche Bank’s financial sponsors group.

Ben earned a BS and MBA in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has served as Co-President of the Wharton C-Circle.

He lives in Santa Monica with his wife and two daughters. In his free time, Ben travels, reads, skis, sails and runs a fun ethnic food project
