Ben Moffitt

Hi, I'm Ben,

I'm a third-year Media Production student at Ryerson University. I've been involved in the film industry for 5 years now, both the production and acting side. However, I'm specifically interested in editing.

The most exciting part of editing is looking at new footage and an empty timeline. Taking raw footage and constructing a story that evokes an emotion in the audience is like starting a new adventure with each project.

My first involvement with editing began at the age of 11 using iMovie to create stop motion lego videos. From there I spent high school in the Lord Byng Media Arts program working on everything from scriptwriting, filming, lighting, graphic design, animation, and prop work, to editing and producing the final product. During my education, I participated in Zoom Fest, a major Canadian film festival, worked collaboratively creating documentaries and fictional short films and learned how to use professional-level equipment and editing programs.

In grade 9, I began sharing my creativity through social media on YouTube, Instagram, and Tik Tok where I began building a brand and gradually gathered a following of over 500,000. Now, using my platform, I am able to create captivating video advertisements for companies and their products/services. Outside of school I’ve worked on sets, both the production side and acting side. These jobs enhanced my organizational skills by having to meet deadlines and pick up a variety of tasks and responsibilities throughout the day.

I’m currently studying at Ryerson University in the Media Production Program and enjoy collaborating with others that share my passion for film. I now have over 7 years of experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and over 3 years specifically using After Effects.

At Ryerson University I’m continuing to build my skillset and am looking for opportunities to work in the video editing industry. I will graduate from Ryerson University with a Bachelor's degree in April of 2023. I am flexible to any amount of work and always open to taking on extra tasks.
