Student, Chef, and Musician in Athens
Hi, I’m Ben. I'm a student at the University of Georgia. Before that I was many things; a son, a brother, a musician, a chef, an athlete, and I could keep going on and on. I suppose that's my main trait, I do a lot.
From a young age I experimented with different hobbies and instruments to see what I would be able to do. It started with baseball when I first moved to the USA in 2014 (I guess I started this sport to try to fit in with my friends, but we didn't have baseball in Israel so it was quite a big learning curve). I stuck with baseball while simultaneously starting piano lessons at 8 years old. I was a quick learner, soon enough mastering classical Debussy in 3 years. Anyways, these two main activities of my life laid the foundation for my mindset: I want to do everything - and do it well.
I picked up weightlifting, running, cooking, rock climbing, drumming, and some other extreme sports. In this picture, you can see me with my girlfriend and family who supported me after my second half-marathon here in Athens! This year I'm planning on challenging myself with a full marathon and picking up even more hobbies. A quote that resonates with me is, "Jack of all trades master of none, though oftentimes better than master of one” - unknown.
I guess to wrap it up, I'd like to give a current update about my life - to show my 8 year old self how for he's come. I'm Ben, a UGA student, but also a hybrid athlete training for a marathon, a loving boyfriend of two years, a cook at Osteria Olio (best restaurant in Athens btw), and while I quit baseball at 16 due to injury; I still keep up with the piano, challenging myself to the hardest pieces!
