Benjamin Taylor is a left-brain / right-brain engineer, artist and designer, whose accolades and achievements from past project work speak towards his abilities as a well-rounded, results-oriented developer and an indefatigable executor.
Currently, he is a Gameplay Programmer for the Electronic Arts studio Maxis working on the AAA PC title "SimCity", a remake of Will Wright's genre-defining classic. He is also a University Educator whose skills include app development for mobile, international web and print work, and game design.
As a professor, Ben prides himself in staying ahead of the curve, teaching students modern Game Art Pipelines and Tools (such as Autodesk Maya and 3D Studio Max), Shader Development with OpenGL, Unity3D, WebGL, HTML5, Digital Portfolio Development, UI/UX, HCI, SEO and Social Connectivity.
Ben has experience as a consultant for several companies specializing in AI, robotic toys and consumer electronics both domestically and abroad, information gathering and analysis experience for network television and US defense, and 10+ years working with the games industry. Ben holds a Master's Degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Entertainment Technology, and has attended a number of field-leading institutions including the Ringling College of Art and Design, Harvard University, and Penn State University.
