The first question I get when I tell people I'm a sports journalist is "So, do you want to be a sideline reporter?" And, as my headline suggests, that's not what I want to be. I respect the women who do sideline reporting, but it's not for me. I'm a print journalist, and I love what I do. I want to tell the stories of the people behind the sports, the personalities behind the uniforms and helmets. Breaking news gives me a greater adrenaline rush than I imagine sky diving would, although I haven't experienced leaping out of an airplane — yet. As a senior at UNC, I've had a healthy dose of breaking news in my four years beginning with Marvin Austin's tweet in a Miami night club to P.J. Hairston's affinity for driving rental cars. Right now, I'm a senior writer, telling my stories in The Daily Tar Heel. I've been the DTH Sports Editor, Colorado Springs Gazette Intern, ACCSports.com intern and occasional freelancer for InsideLacrosse.com and The Weekly. I'll enter the real world on May 11, 2014, and this final semester is all about finding out what I'll do when my four years in Chapel Hill are up. With any luck, that will mean continuing to report breaking news and tell the stories that matter.
