Björn Eriksson is a textile designer and maker hoping to be part of the artistic yet commercial global textile community.

Björn grew up in rural Sweden amongst sheep, cows and forest. At 16 he moved to Uppsala to begin his studies in design. After graduation he travelled from Russia to Thailand, worked as a waiter on an island and studied Japanese. When he turned 21 it was time to really pursue design. But the travel-bug had infected him so Björn decided to move continent and he resumed design studies at RMIT University, Melbourne. At a Foundation Course in Art, Design and Architecture Björn heard a speech by the coordinator of the B A in Textile Design. He fell head over heels in love with the medium.

In his 3rd year in Textile Design at RMIT, Björn went on exchange to the National Institute of Design in India. There he extended his knowledge in traditional textile processes and his appreciation for global exchange.

Through the years Björn has been shortlisted for a RMIT Industry Project Competition with LinenHouse, as well as, exhibited at IKEA Springvale having been shortlisted in a competition to design a textile product. Björn has worked in marketing and extensively in hospitality, acquiring proficiency in Business to Business relations and interpersonal skills.

Björn believes in textiles as an artistic medium with a commercial application and aims to develop each of his projects into functional products with intrinsic meaning.
