Attorney in California
An accomplished attorney, Berna Kamyar leverages his experience in the field of immigration law toward his role as a Staff Attorney at the Central American Resource Center. In this capacity, Berna Kamyar handles a wide range of immigration cases related to family-based petitions and asylum. Berna Kamyar appears before state and immigration courts and represents clients during asylum interviews for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. He also provides pro bono representation in Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases involving unaccompanied children.
Kamyar brings to his position an in-depth knowledge of human rights, youth justice, and public-interest matters on a professional and volunteer level. Earlier in his career, he conducted research on discrimination for the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights and volunteered with a California legal-aid clinic for people who experienced trauma. Furthermore, his dedication to clients in immigration courts was inspired, in part, by his experience in representing clients earlier in his career, when he became disconcerted by the high fees imposed on individuals with low incomes. Berna Kamyar graduated with a juris doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School.
