Bernard Pierorazio has built his career around community engagement and improvement. He spent decades within the public school system and served as Superintendent of Yonkers public schools for nine years. He was recognized as New York State Superintendent of the Year in 2011. Bernard earned a master's degree in educational leadership and administration from Iona College, and he also completed certification in special education and teaching at the College of New Rochelle. Bernard was not afraid to tackle major existing institutions and revamp their management, and some of his greatest achievements were creating more high schools to foster smaller, more personal learning, as well as eliminating middle schools in favor of more productive K-8 systems. Bernard is a family-oriented man and out of all of his accomplishments, he is proudest of his two sons and the lives they've built for themselves.
