Bernhard an der Gassen
I´m a german-austrian-italian art historian, library- and information scientist presently working as librarian for artistic, rare and early printed books at Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz. My task is to process loan requests for exhibitions and edit digitisation inquiries. I particularly enjoy to guide visitors through the library. Extra occupationally I studied library and information science at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. [M.A. (LIS)] My emphasis was on information literacy, semantic web, linked open data and the curation of a library- and digital exhibition based on the avant-gardist Sturm-Archiv.
As another mainstay I´m in education as an alternative healer for psychotherapy. My aim is to become a body-oriented psycho- and sex therapist. Currently I attend a course in trauma therapy at Arche Medica. For my work I attend further training at IBS as peer mentor for addiction issues. Voluntarily I work as district council member with QM Wassertorplatz and I welcome immigrants.
Before that I was living in Vienna working at cultural institutions such as Belvedere Museum, Kunsthalle Wien, Palais Dorotheum, Hofburg and Schönbrunn Palace. I specialized as information professional at ÖGDI, underwent trainings on human rights, empowerment, cultural-, diversity- and business management. My greatest success was, to have on a small scale been able to contribute to the restitution of Gustav Klimts Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I. Today the artpiece is part of the collections of New York-based Neue Galerie. Privately I enjoyed to live in Leopoldstadt, the traditional jewish district close to Prater and Danube.
At the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck I studied art history, architecture, european ethnology, romance studies and medicine. My thematic priority was on Modernism, Pablo Picasso, Non European Art and Gender Studies. [Mag. phil.] Among others I jobbed at Kunsthalle Tirol im Salzlager Hall, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, Architekturzentrum Tirol, Tiroler Landestheater and Kunstraum Innsbruck.
I graduated from an artistic high school with i. a. a paper about foreign workers. After it I did an intercultural and interreligious sabbatical in Asia.
I have a passion for languages, travelling, different cultures and unusual contacts. I speak English and German fluently, have some knowledge - in ongoing learning processes - in Italian, Spanish, French, Latin, Russian and Turkish.
