2012 Thanks for all the well wishes on my recent birthday. It was heartwarming to see all the comments. Therefore I thought I might write some new stuff. My Dad is now at the NC State Veterans' Home. He is settled in, happy and flirts with all the ladies on staff. Unfortunately his stroke left him with enough deficits he cannot be managed at home with me or my sister. On the upside we can take him for outings and he can have the occassional weekend visit. I had a little more arthroscopic surgery on my pesky left knee. After my knee replacement in 2010 I build up some scar tissue that needed to come out. Pictures from inside my knee are cool and sort of outer space looking. The scar tissue looked like a piece of tattered old white sheer curtain.... just floating on a light breeze. I am icing the knee and ready to go back to the gym. Unfortunately my sister Pat will be cracking the whip and making me go 6 days a week. You know she calls me alarmingly early of a morn just to be sure I am awake and getting ready for the gym..... More another time. Beth Attached is my first post retirement photo. I was in my sister's backyard in California. The dogs are MJ, Elf and ....oh no forgot the yellow labs name! California was relaxing, sunny and apparently induces forgetfulness... Since returning I have made a lot of items for my new little business, Piece Works. I jointed the Looking Glass Artists Collective too. So far I have scarves and shawls. Love the relaxation and creativity of making something unique. My first craft show is at LGAC on December 11th. Everyone is welcome to come say hi! The dining room has been painted. Ten foot walls are a real hassle when you have to haul ladders and climb up and down. Primed and painted those suckers. The ceiling will wait until next year. Although I have been learning to spackle..... Sort of like icing a cake. My little dog Jax is happy to have me around. He is always bringing me his favorite toy to throw. So far I haven't broken anything playing with him. Probably just a matter of time.... My sister Pat is finally moved into her new home. Just when I thought I was done with the heavy lifting she got a truck load of firewood. I was drafted to stack it... The only consolation is the food is great as Pat's Housemate J is a splendid cook. Bad news is I got on J's bad side and have been baned from Taco Night for 3 months!!!! I will be groveling a lot to get out of that punishment. Well, hell I can't spell my own name. Call me Bet
