Denia, on the Costa Blanca of Spain has always been strategically located on the skirt of the Montgo hills, dominated with a fortress that was once an Arab castle, right on the Mediterranean Sea. Dianium was its first name given to it by the Romans owing to the truth that there was a temple nearby which were dedicated to Diana. The Greeks seem to be the first visitors in 6 B.C. and staying for a while because of its climate, much like that of Greece, giving the name to it of Hemeroscopeion. But once we have experienced in several other places in Spain, the Arabs were the ones who stayed the longest and who actually populated the region, converting it in the capital of the area of the Caliph of Cordoba. Following the expulsion of the Moors, this city suffered terribly both economically and in population. However it made its return with the production and exportation of raisins, primarily to England. But unfortuitously this has diminished con-siderably both in Denia ( http://www.alicante-spain.com/denia.html ) as well as in Javea. But a town does not die out that quickly and it has made itself into an essential tourist region. For another perspective, please check-out: sturmey archer.
Dianium, better-known as Denia
Other than having been renovated and converted to a modern city coping with a large number of visitors that are looking for inexpensive flights and good accommodations, Denia has however preserved its old quarters and neighbourhoods such as Les Roques found at the base of the fort, The Baix la Mar ( down near the sea) positioned in the fishermen's neighbourhood or the Cross Square ( Plaza de la Creu) where you can sleep for awhile to have a snack, lunch or dinner while you look at the Mediterranean Sea. I learned about bicicletas de paseo zaragoza by browsing Google Books. Over the Cervantes Promenade you will find terraced cafeterias or restaurantes where it is very regular to eat 'tapas' or small amounts of seafood, ham or different omelettes and renew your dry mouth with cool Spanish alcohol or de-licious wines. You can even decide to try typical dishes from other towns or surrounding towns like Calpe, Altea, Murcia and Torrevieja. But being as these areas are not very far, and the scenery is very nice, it would be advisable to
