Volunteer, Nurse, and Therapist in Cameroon

I am a 2nd year Masters in Public Health student, a nurse-midwife and mental health advocate committed to improving healthcare for vulnerable and underserved populations. Over the past 9 months, I have volunteered with the organization Talk Pregnancy with Dr. Noela, where we’ve actively reached out to over 1,000 women, offering health talks, health education, and free screenings. I also underwent a 4-year Nursing and Midwifery program at the University of Bamenda, where I defended my project titled “The Role of the Midwife in the Care for Women with Pre-eclampsia Throughout Pregnancy.” This work aimed at addressing pre-eclampsia; one of the leading causes of maternal deaths worldwide, by looking at how it can be identified and prevented early, identifying gaps in care, and proposing practical solutions. I’ve also gone through a professional development program on Clinical Mental Health and Counselling, which lasted over half a year where I gained hands-on experience through internships focused on various forms of counselling, therapy and psychosocial support.

I’m actively open to joining a team, organization, hospital, or company that is committed to helping humanity, especially vulnerable groups and underserved communities, by ensuring access to both physical and mental healthcare. I also seek international work and scholarship opportunities where I can learn and grow more in this field, to be able to better serve these vulnerable populations, especially women and children who are still suffering from sexual and reproductive health violations, child labor and abuse, hunger, malnourishment, and lack of access to proper maternal and mental health care due to poverty and health inequity.
