When working...
I’m a learning and development leader — but that’s not how I got started.

My background is actually as a manager in the social services. I spent quite a few years developing new programs, finding money to fund them, and evaluating their effectiveness. For most of the years I worked in the non-profit world, I worked hard to run my part of the organization more like a business.

But then I moved to the corporate world and quickly realized that my non-profit experience would serve me well. In particular, I appreciated having the experience to run a program while carefully controlling costs. I was glad that I knew how to map outcomes to work and the training needed to get the work done. I was also happy that I had the experience to know that collaboration with key stakeholders is a vital ingredient in getting work done.

As a result, I have developed into a learning and development business leader with the mind of a non-profit leader.

When relaxing...
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, hiking, and camping.

I also spend quite a bit of time on the mats practicing brazilian jiu-jitsu. It's an addiction that you wouldn't understand if you don't do it.
