After growing up in the Midwest and graduating law school, I served for seven years as an intelligence officer in the US Army, helping leaders and soldiers make sense of complex environments in training and combat.

As a film critic in college, a voracious newshound, and a former intelligence officer, I've always been fascinated by the stories behind people, organizations, and data - what makes them tick, speaks to others, and explains their actions.
