I am a native Houstonian living in the City of Houston, Texas.
I am a graduate of Rice University with a double B.A. in Economics and Statistics.
I have more than 20 years experience in the corporate setting across multiple industries and in both private and public-sector companies. I have experience in portfolio and risk management, improving systems and processes, and client relationship management.
I also have a passion for my community, having spent many years volunteering with various organizations.
I am a huge fan of the weather. In fact, I am the Harris County (TX) local area coordinator for CoCoRaHS (pronounced "koko-rozz"), an acronym for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network. CoCoRaHS is a unique, non-profit, community-based network of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow). By using low-cost measurement tools, stressing training and education, and utilizing an interactive Web-site, our aim is to provide the highest quality data for natural resource, education, and research applications.
Besides my passion for the weather, here are some more fun facts about.me:
. I love watching movies at the theater.
. I love cycling in warm weather.
. In 2015, I started practicing ashtanga yoga after nearly thirteen years of 'encouragement. I now practice yoga nearly every day.
. I love watching and playing sports, although my body would very much like for me to not play anymore. So, I'll just stick to yoga.
. I was the original Founder of Palace Social, the rejuvenation of the old Palace Bowling Lanes on Bellaire Blvd, but I am no longer involved in the concept as of early 2024.
. I used to love drawing pictures on my children's snack bags. But, they don't take snacks to school anymore, so my drawing skills are gathering dust.
. Oh, and I am an avid hugger. Big bear hugs.
On a final note, I am a survivor of the attack on the World Trade Center Towers in New York City on 9/11/01. I regularly give talks about my experience, which you can read about here.
