Media with the addition of blood deserve special attention. Currently, most bacteriological laboratories are forced to work on media using expired human blood. Working on such blood does not allow making unambiguous conclusions about the hemolytic activity of the microorganism. We use only lamb blood in the preparation of blood media. It should be remembered that the hemolytic ability, determined on cups with blood agar, depends on many factors - the type of blood, its concentration, the presence of antitoxins in it, the thickness of the layer of medium, etc.
