Based in Great Neck, New York, Birchwood Properties, LLC, and its principals invest, own, and manage a variety of multifamily and multipurpose properties in and around the New York City area. Private real estate managers and investors Robert E. and Karen Spitalnick own Birchwood Properties, LLC, which was founded in 1986.

A graduate of Hofstra University and New York Law School, Robert E. Spitalnick practiced law for over 30 years before jumping into the real estate business full-time. His foray into real estate began in 1980 when he joined the law firm of Silver & Tischler, which was affiliated with Orda Management Company.

Co-owner Karen Spitalnick earned her undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College and her master’s degree from Baruch College. After receiving her MBA, she joined I. Neuman & Sons, which was an owner-management firm with more than 1,000 residential units spanning the five New York City boroughs. She partnered with Robert E. Spitalnick in 1980 to acquire a 101-unit building at 7000 Bay Parkway in Brooklyn, and then they made their first joint acquisition in 1986 of a 33-unit property located at 404-410 61st Street, also in Brooklyn. These two acquisitions signified the beginning of Birchwood Properties, LLC.
