History of Birmingham
Birmingham has seen 1400 years of improvements, during which time it has progressed from a little seventh century Anglo Saxon town on the edge of the Forest of Arden at the edge of early Mercia to transform into a huge city. A mix of immigration, innovation and city pride helped with accomplishing social and economic related changes and to fuel the Industrial Revolution, encouraging the transformation of similar cities all over the world.
The latest 200 years have seen Birmingham rise from a market town into the fastest growing city of the nineteenth century, propelled by a mix of civic investment, scientific achievement, commercial innovation and by a steady surge of transient workers into its suburbs. By the 20th century Birmingham developed into the metropolitan area of the United Kingdom's manufacturing and automotive organisations, having acquired itself a position as a city of canals, then by cars, and most lately as a huge European convention and shopping centre.

The National Sea Life Centre is an aquarium with more than 60 showcases of freshwater and marine life in Brindley Place, Birmingham, England. It is located alongside the Birmingham Canal Navigations Main Line Canal. Its sea tank has a limit of 1,000,000 litres of water and houses monster green ocean turtles, blacktip reef sharks and tropical reef fish, with the UK's only fully transparent 360 degree ocean underwater tunnel.
