BJ OF YOUNG HUSTLERZ

There is a lot of ambition there for a man who got serious about being an artist when he was still in high school. The moment that everything changed for him was watching a freestyle battle; the intensity, the crowd, and the fact that he thought he could do it better. Then he met Desil, who was as serious as about rap as himself, and they set to work, writing every day in the library during lunch. They recorded some tracks in an actual studio and put them out on the street; the response was unexpected and enthusiastic. He wrote a tribute to a student that had been killed and people were overwhelmed. One guy had it on his MySpace page and his father heard it and couldn't believe someone so young was talking about his life that way. A reporter came over and interviewed him and his photo appeared in the local paper. But even that doesn't bring out appreciation from some people in Daytona. "They just don't respect it", he says. His heart is in Daytona, and he dreams of making a difference. Bringing artists up, bringing attention to his scene even though some people in Florida don't want it to exist. He knows what he's had to do to make it out of the hard times, and the desire to improve himself and the community is undeniable.
