Writer, Editor, and Musician in Philadelphia Pennsylvania

I am Bjorn Duphot, known to audiences around the world as The Queen of Shade®—an independent recording artist, writer, philosopher, entrepreneur, fashion creative, and cultural commentator whose career has been more than twenty-five years in the making.

Twenty-five years ago, I could not have known exactly what the finished picture would become. What I knew was simpler, and perhaps more important: I had something to say, and I was willing to spend my life becoming capable of saying it entirely on my own terms.

What followed was never going to fit neatly inside the boundaries of one career.

It became an entire creative world.

I became a recording artist, songwriter, and producer, building a catalog of music independently and eventually reaching millions of streams around the world. My body of work includes projects such as Billion Dollar Voice and Stoic. Over time, even conventional descriptions of genre became too restrictive for what I was creating, so I gave my sound its own language: French Twist—music where rhythm, philosophy, emotion, and transformation coexist.

That instinct—to create new language when existing language cannot adequately describe what I see—has followed me throughout my career.

I have written.

I have modeled.

I have photographed.

I have designed.

I have created books, visual concepts, fashion, philosophy, music, and editorial worlds.

I have also spent years mentoring creatives and aspiring artists, speaking about independence, intellectual ownership, self-knowledge, discipline, and the importance of understanding who you are before an industry, an audience, or another human being attempts to define you.

And then came The Queen of Shade®.

What began with a man speaking became something much larger.

In 2015, my monologues began traveling rapidly across the internet. I spoke about self-worth, destiny, heartbreak, love, independence, boundaries, resilience, and personal power. Those messages found an international audience because they were never designed merely to entertain. I wanted people to recognize themselves inside the words.

One of the greatest gifts of my career has been discovering that a voice can speak to millions while still making one person listening alone feel as though the conversation was meant specifically for them.

In 2018, The Queen of Shade entered another extraordinary period of viral recognition, with my work generating 21.4 million Instagram likes within a single year.

But virality was never the destination.

Ownership was.

My music and monologue eventually converged when my song Stoic received attention in the United Kingdom and The London Examiner published a feature titled The Queen of Shade Is Back. The exposure introduced another audience to my recorded work, while affirming something I had understood for years: the speaking voice and the singing voice were never competing identities. They were different instruments belonging to the same artist.

I continued building.

Today, I am the founder of The Queen of Shade Entertainment, LLC, the creative umbrella through which I continue developing work across music, fashion, publishing, talent development, mentorship, and visual storytelling.

I am also the Editor-in-Chief of The Queen of Shade Magazine, an independent luxury digital fashion publication born from the intersection of everything I have learned through art and life.

I describe the magazine as a memoir disguised as a fashion publication.

That description is intentional.

Modeling taught me image.

Music taught me emotion.

Writing taught me precision.

Photography taught me perspective.

Entrepreneurship taught me ownership.

Mentorship taught me responsibility.

The internet taught me reach.

And life taught me endurance.

For years, those experiences may have appeared to belong to separate careers. I understand them differently now.

They were preparing me for one another.

I did not spend twenty-five years attempting to become exceptionally successful at one thing. I spent twenty-five years becoming the person capable of building all of it.

That distinction defines my work.

When you encounter something I have created—whether it is a photograph, a sentence, a garment, a melody, a philosophy, a business concept, or a magazine page—I want there to be an unmistakable creative fingerprint.

The same mind.

The same voice.

The same hand.

The same vision.

The Queen of Shade® has ultimately become more than a name attached to one medium. It is the creative world through which I explore dignity, identity, transformation, ownership, survival, beauty, independence, and the extraordinary possibilities that appear when a human being decides to become the author of his own life.

Perhaps that is the clearest definition I have discovered for an artist:

Not simply someone who creates things,

but someone whose vision becomes so distinct that, eventually, an entire world begins to bear their signature.
