A native of Kenya, Brenda Kathurima is a 2013 summa cum laude alumna of Coppin State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science. As an undergraduate, Ms. Kathurima was an Eagle Scholar with the Honors College and was often engaged in research with faculty, presenting at local and national conferences. As a student leader, she was very active in student government and student organizations throughout campus and represented Coppin at leadership conferences or Coppin sponsored events as a panelist or student speaker.

In her junior year, Brenda was accepted into the 2012 Baltimore Scholars Program at the University of Baltimore School of Law, a year long preparatory program for aspiring attorneys. At the completion of the program, she met the requirements for a full scholarship to the university's law school.

Today, Brenda is a third-year law student at the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law. At Maryland School of Law, Brenda is a Leadership Scholar and is interested in civil rights litigation and international human rights law. She has served as a law clerk for the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings and the Maryland General Assembly House Economic Matters Committee.

In the last year, Brenda became the forty-fourth recipient of the Leesfield Family Foundation and American Association of Justice Law Student Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to "law students who exemplify a high commitment to trial advocacy and public justice."

In her free time, Brenda enjoys volunteering in the community and creating content for her fashion blog "Curved to Perfection." She is an adamant advocate for nurturing self-esteem in the female youth.
