I'm an IT professional, employed since 1980 in various computing roles (tester, programmer, analyst, architect) over that time. i've worked for companies as an employee and as a contractor throughout my career. In 1990 I obtained my amateur radio license (KC8MNS), and for several years was active in Columbus Ohio's branch of ARES. After moving back to the Washington DC area, I picked up digital photography (my previous photography work was in college as a free lance photographer in B&W film). The freedom from the dark room that was afforded me made this really fun again. About that time I also was able to get an indoor wood shop started. Previously, my shop in Ohio was in the garage, which was limited by the weather and the cars. Now I have the enitre unfinished part of the basement (about 600 sq ft) that is filled with a mix of both power and hand tools.

I enjoy camping with my family, our children and grand children, my work (which allows me to telecomute!). Some of my favorite TV includes Bones, Everybody loves Raymond and Big Bang Theory. I have DVD's of Roy Underhills Woodwright's Shop which I enjoy, along with many other woodworking shows that I can relax with on the road.

Most of my reading comes in two flavors - woodworking books are primarily the paper back and hardbound - while the computer/photography books I enjoy reading on my iPad. I also am a member of Audible.com and get nearly all my fiction *fix* via that mode.
