• studied with Rainer Küchl, Jela Spitkova (University of Music, Vienna)
• Master classes with Wolfgang Schneiderhan, Robert Masters, Igor Oistrach, Victor Pickaizen and Josef Luitz
• finalist and prize winner at the International Yehudi Menuhin Competition 1991
• solo and chamber music concerts in Europe, Japan and South America
• her work as a concert master includes orchestras like the Vienna Symphony, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra (Munich State Opera), the Orquesta del Gran Teatro del Liceu Barcelona, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Capitol de Toulouse, the Gulbenkian Orchestra Lissabon, the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, the Camerata Salzburg, etc.
• since 2012 concert master of the Spanish Nacional Orchestra
• Birgit Kolar plays a violin Carlo Bergonzi 1723 from the “collection of rare instruments” owned by the National Bank of Austria.
