Hi, I'm Brian Kroski!

I run a consultancy that is focused on digital media and informed by more than 20 years of building and operating digital businesses.

I spent the first part of my career building digital technologies and products to help transform a variety of legacy businesses. During this time, I became fascinated with the media business, which was undergoing a massive, rapid transformation to digital.

After spending some time building products for some great brands like Men's Health and Prevention at Rodale, I got the chance to run digital for The New York Observer - a small newspaper in New York famous for its iconic editor Peter Kaplan and its iconic pink paper. That website punched way above its weight and was the runner-up for the Webby Award to the New York Times! After that, I went on to lead the hyper-growth of numerous digital businesses (Mental Floss, The Week, YourTango, Shape, Radar). More recently, I served as Chief Digital Officer for American Media and its 22 publications. Under my leadership, the digital audience grew to over 100 million visits per month.

If it isn't clear already, I'm always up for a new challenge. When I looked at the incredibly dynamic media landscape, I realized that my skills and experience were most valuable where I could work with an array of new, developing, and transforming media businesses. So I decided to try to strike out on my own. Nowadays, I help clients with launching new products and lines of business, driving growth in audience and revenue, streamlining and improving digital operations, onboarding new technologies and products, and leading mergers and their subsequent integrations. (I also teach digital business at Columbia Journalism every summer, which is one of the highlights of my year!)
