Hi! I’m Helen, the founder of BraidedUp, a directory dedicated to elevating Black-owned beauty businesses and fostering a thriving community for Black women and entrepreneurs. My mission is to empower our community by providing valuable insights and resources specifically tailored to the unique challenges we face in the beauty industry.

I’m passionate about topics that bring real value, including well-being and self-care practices for beauty professionals, recognizing and treating hair, scalp, and skin conditions, and promoting injury prevention and ergonomic practices in our work. Additionally, I want to explore educational pathways in our field for example —how does someone become a hairstylist? What are the steps to learn product formulation and manufacturing?How does one succesfully scale a business?
