Blade Hudson is an American musician born & raised in the Mississippi Delta. A self-taught drummer and guitarist, he grew up immersed in the electric sounds of the blues. His grandfather Nathaniel "Little" Addison and late uncle Eddie Shaw, both respected musicians in the Chicago blues circuit, served as points of inspiration for Blade and became influential to his early musical development.
He learned Shaw was Howling Wolf's saxophonist & served as bandleader of the Wolf Gang and Little Addison ,a multi-instrumentalist, was a session musician most notably affiliated with Chess Records.
However, it wasn’t until age 14 that Blade found his passion for Rock ‘n’ Roll when hearing Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana for the first time. When his interests in guitar was heard by Eddie Vaan Shaw Jr., an older cousin and early mentor to Blade, he would give him pointers as well as one of his first guitars. Trading in the drumsticks for an electric guitar, Blade quickly became known throughout Mississippi as the “Bastard Child of the Blues.” He has cited Slash and Lenny Kravitz as being the core inspirations in developing his musical style, both equally serving as heavy influences that led him in the direction of becoming a Rock n Roll artist.
Blade has performed with various acts throughout his career and taken the stage at music festivals such as the Chicago Blues Festival in Olympic Park with Muddy Waters’ nephew, Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, and several other venues in the Southeast like Ground Zero Clarksdale/Biloxi, Mississippi, Northside Tavern Blues Club of Atlanta, City Winery Atlanta, 10 High Club, 37 Main Buford and The Masquerade.
Over the years his online presence would begin to be recognized by notable musicians in the industry such as Neal Schon of Journey, Legendary bassist Rudy Sarzo and L.A. Guns co-founding guitarist Tracii Guns. Utilizing the tools that social media provided, Blade was able to create his own platform & following.
Blade currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia where he frequently collaborates with local musicians and works as a professional sideman to artists of several genres, including Blues, HipHop, Rock, Pop and R&B. When not performing he also works as a music educator and studio musician.
