I am the head of AR/VR Research in the Global Technology Applied Research group at JPMorgan Chase, and a Professor of Art+Design & Computing at Northeastern University. In the past, I was a Professor in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech, and a Principle Research Scientist at Mozilla.
In my work, I want to further our understanding of the potential of AR and VR as new media for games, entertainment, education and work.
At Georgia Tech, I founded and direct the Augmented Environments Lab to explore the design and implementation of interactive mixed-reality and augmented-reality software, games, and experiences.
I have been doing research in augmented reality since 1991, and have worked on projects ranging from industrial and military uses of AR, through games, education and art.
I write, speak and consult regularly on topics related to AR, with companies big and small, in industries as diverse as chip manufacturing and video games.
My Ph.D. is from Columbia University in the City of New York, and I spent my undergraduate years at the University of Waterloo in Canada (near where I grew up).
