A nationally regarded obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN), Dr. Bliss Kaneshiro has contributed to her field both academically and clinically. She has served as a scientific program reviewer for the American Society for Reproductive Medicine's annual meeting three years in succession, while also serving as chair of the society's contraception special-interest group. For the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Bliss Kaneshiro has led the women's health and reproductive biology cluster within the organization's National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. Furthermore, as a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Kaneshiro serves on such national committees as the Clinical Updates Committee and the Committee on Adolescent Health Care.
Also the recipient of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ national faculty award as well as its first-place award for scientific presentations, among other professional accolades, Dr. Bliss Kaneshiro continues to distinguish herself as a scholar and clinician. She directs the division of family planning of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women's Health at the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine, and also the department's family-planning fellowship. Dr. Kaneshiro remains in active practice as a member of Planned Parenthood of Hawaii and was recently named one of the best doctors statewide by Honolulu magazine.
