My name is GeorgAnne Bloodworth. I’ve had 19 years on this earth and I pray God grants me many more. I come from a big, loving family that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I have an sister, brother, two nieces, and more cousins than you can count. I was born and raised in Knoxville, Georgia on a large poultry production farm. In other words, my family and I raise the chickens that show up in your 12 piece nugget box at Chik-Fil-A. When I tell people that my dad is a farmer, they raise an eyebrow and I know the picture that comes to their mind. They picture my dad in the stereotypical overalls, wearing a straw hat, and chewing tobacco. I’m sorry to disappoint you, but my dad wears khakis to work. I love every minute of living and working on a farm. That farm has shaped me into the overachieving young lady I am today. Unsurprisingly, I had previously been pursuing a degree in large animal veterinary medicine here at the University of Georgia. Go dawgs! Although I enjoy heading home to the farm on the weekends, I spend the majority of my holidays, weekends, and breaks at St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. I’m including this in my biography because what I’m about to tell you changed my life. This past August my five year old cousin, Kade was diagnosed with medulla blastoma brain cancer. He underwent chemo and radiation treatments for 8 months. In November, Kade regained his ability to walk. This was something that we weren't sure we would ever be able to witness. We thanked God for this blessing and for Kade's amazing physical therapists. They diligently worked with him so he could regain control of the right side of his body. They had outstanding patience and determination. This is when I rethought my career choice. I would like to be a pediatric physical therapist so I can play a part in helping children, like Kade live the life they were meant to live.
