Writing music:

Had a record deal in my early 20's with my band I wrote & sang & played guitar in.

Spent a few years in my early 30's hauled up teaching myself recording & production software, Max MSP etc., Python & Csound.

Was interested in making digital ambient / "microsound" type music, but became a bit dissatisfied with structureless approach.

Became interested in (& eventually accessed, thanks to internet fileshares) "western" academic music theory, & now I am pretty much immersed in that world of recordings, theory, & history.

Slowly working towards writing vagrantly tonal / modal instrumental music for orchestra. Very much 'work in progress', but while there continues to be progress, i continue.

Buddhism & meditation:

Spent a year in a Buddhist community on 8 precepts c.2000

Continue to practice meditation with an oscillating sense of dedication & frequency.

Interested in Buddhist cultural history & spread.

Other interests:

Gardens & Landscapes (completed a horticulture trade certificate whilst unemployed)

German stuff:

  • Romanticism & Philosophy
  • art (esp. Beuys & disciples, G.Richter)
  • occult &/or orientalist influences on the above.

"Silk Road" / cultural intersections in general

Environmental movements: history, forms, politics - conservative & progressive

"Work":

Currently unemployed

Have mainly worked pretty boring admin type jobs in order to maximise brain space & time for my "non-professional" interests listed above.

I have dropped out of undergrad degrees in Architecture, Computer Science, & Electronic Engineering, despite at times some very high grades. My consistent experience at all levels of education is "complete crap".

The future:

Possibly some combined travel / looking for work, but having a base is also useful in order to work on music.

Maybe moving interstate, somewhere close to some National Parks with some forests...
