Since October 2025, I have had the privilege of serving as Vice President for Communications at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). It is a significant and important responsibility, and I bring to it all of my experience and expertise with great enthusiasm and dedication. This outstanding research university—and above all its people—provides an exceptional foundation for international communication as well as for fostering meaningful dialogue with and within society.

Previously, I was Managing Director at the National Institute for Science Communication, NaWik, in Karlsruhe, Germany. The Institute offers diverse courses in science communication for scientists and scicomm professionals – from basics to special skills from social media or writing – from giving interviews to risk communication and more.

I have a post-graduate diploma in chemistry and a background of nearly two decades as a science writer. Social media for scientists are ideal for direct interaction and dialogue with the public or at an interdisciplinary level. So I launched and established Scienceblogs.de in Germany in 2007 and I worked as a social media consultant for several Laureate Meetings - the Nobel Week Dialogue, the Heidelberg Laureate Forum and the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.

In addition, I have had the pleasure of participating in various committees and juries for many years, such as #FactoryWissKomm of the BMBF (Steering Commitee plus Task Forces), Jury Wissenschaftsjahre BMBF (Chair 2016–2021), Expert for SciComm for a position paper by the German Science and Humanities Council (Wissenschaftsrat), Evaluation Commission of the German Marine Research Allinance (DAM), Strategy Commission Akademienunion ...
