Blythe Thomas

Wichita, Kansas

Blythe Thomas is the Vice President for Communications at the Kansas Health Foundation. In this capacity, she is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to support the foundation’s mission to improve the health of all Kansans. Her work includes communicating to current and potential grantees about foundation programs; working with the media to raise visibility about health prevention strategies; and keeping Kansans informed about ways to become healthy.

Prior to joining the foundation in October 2013, Blythe was the international director of marketing and public relations for The Nature Conservancy (www.nature.org) where she built global brand awareness through earned media strategies and partnerships; engaged celebrities and the entertainment industry to raise visibility and garner credibility; grew the pool of international Conservancy spokespeople; and led the PR efforts for the All Hands on Earth signature marketing campaign.

Blythe also worked as the chief of staff to the senior vice president of development at the American Red Cross National Headquarters (www.redcross.org) and held philanthropy and communications positions throughout her 10-year tenure.

Blythe has returned home to Wichita after 19 years. She began her love of journalism and broadcasting as a B-98 FM summer morning show producer. She majored in Journalism and Broadcasting with a minor in Speech Communications, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science from Oklahoma State University. She was recently nominated to the 2014 class of Wichita Business Journal’s 40 Under 40. She resides in West Wichita with her husband and two sons who attend Maize Central Elementary.
