Bob has been the executive editor of the Tallahassee Democrat in Florida's capital city since 2005. His blog on Tallahassee.com has been recognized as among the best in Florida with first or second place awards from the Florida Society of News Editors and the Society of Professional Journalists for five straight years.

He is a four-time winner of Gannett's President's Ring given to the company's finalists for editor of the year. In 2010, The Democrat won a Gannett Freedom of Information Award for its battles for open records on behalf of the public.

He is a strong advocate on behalf of children, and serves on the Steering Committee of Whole Child Leon. He is also on the board of the local Economic Development Council and is Secretary-Treasurer of FSNE.
