Rabbi Bob Barocas (Rachmiel David Barocas) is an Orthodox rabbi, Torah educator, author, and speaker based in Highland Park, New Jersey. He is the author of Legacy of Light: Revealing the Torah’s Eternal Relevance. Rabbi Barocas regularly delivers a hashkafa shiur to the Edison Chabura and serves as a featured speaker for MEOR’s Maimonides Leaders Fellowship at Rutgers University. He writes for Chabad.org and The Times of Israel blog, where he publishes Torah essays focused on spiritual growth and personal development.
Rabbi Bob is best known for delivering deep Torah wisdom to help thoughtful Jews actualize their potential, integrate spiritual growth into daily life, and become resilient, self-aware, mission-driven individuals.
He studied at Machon Yaakov in Jerusalem under Rabbi Beryl Gershenfeld and continued his learning at the Edison Chabura with Rabbi Reuven Billowitz. These foundational years shaped his Slobodka-style hashkafa and love for mussar. Whether delving into a sugya in Shas or a perush on Chumash, Rabbi Bob strives to unearth deeply inspiring and life-altering messages in everything he learns and passionately share them with others.
Rabbi Barocas received semicha (Rabbinic Ordination) from Rabbi Daniel Channen. He also holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from Rutgers Law School and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Rutgers University, where he graduated summa cum laude with Highest Departmental Honors in both of his majors (philosophy and political science).
He lives in Highland Park, New Jersey with his wife and three boys.
