Robert W. Duggan, well-respected philanthropist, businessman and innovator, was born and raised in California. After studying economics and business management from UC Santa Barbara and UCLA respectively, Duggan went on to found multiple successful business ventures and contribute to numerous philanthropic endeavors. With a wide array of interests in both business and community, Mr. Duggan’s accomplishments are the epitome of business acuity and commitment to humanitarian works.

With over 30 years as a venture investor and innovator with wide ranging talents, Bob Duggan has grown three venture capital companies into publicly-traded entities, served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Computer Motion (now Intuitive Surgical, Inc.) and has supported programs for literacy and drug prevention.

As the CEO and Chairman of Pharmacyclics, Robert Duggan began his impressive business insight as a major investor in the children’s embroidery company, Jiffy Stichery. The high quality, simple and user-friendly products became a highly lucrative enterprise, which Duggan helped to secure sales to 7,000 retail stores.

In 2000, Mr. Duggan received the French Republic Legion of Honor by former President Jacque Chirac, and the United States Congressman’s Medal of Merit from Texas Congressman and former presidential candidate Ron Paul, M.D. in 1985.

Both he and his wife, Trish Duggan, have contributed to the College of Engineering, the UC Santa Barbara Athletics Program, a NCAA champion soccer team and the world class Religious Studies Department. Today, Bob and Trish actively continue their efforts towards education, humanitarianism and community outreach projects.
