Wynnewood, PA

Medical Director of Endoscopy at Main Line Health in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, Dr. Bob Etemad's extensive experience places him among the top interventional endoscopists in the Philadelphia area. Working in a new state-of-the-art laboratory, Dr. Etemad performs probe-based confocal microscopy and other complex procedures with excellent results. These procedures, typically performed only at major medical schools, have garnered positive outcomes in Dr. Bob Etemad's smaller lab, where he maintains an optimum safety record and outstanding patient satisfaction. His expertise in the use of endoscopy to gain a visual examination of the human body's interior has provided the incentive for him to become renowned as a pancreatic specialist and the primary referral physician for pancreatic disease in Philadelphia's western suburbs.

A Pennsylvania native, Dr. Bob Etemad began his 17-year medical journey by studying at Swarthmore College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Education. He attended Philadelphia's Temple University School of Medicine for his Doctor of Medicine and performed a residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (now the Cleveland Clinic), a multispecialty academic medical center in Ohio. Additionally, Dr. Etemad served a fellowship with the University of Pennsylvania Health System's Graduate Hospital and he completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Bob Etemad gained board certification in internal medicine in 1993, and in 1995 he became board-certified in gastroenterology. Through his work with Main Line Gastroenterology Associates, he holds affiliation with Bryn Mawr Hospital, Lankenau Medical Center, and Paoli Hospital. His professional research has resulted in the publication of numerous articles on gastrointestinal endoscopy, pancreatitis, and other subjects related to his specialty. Just prior to joining Main Line Health, Dr. Bob Etemad shared his knowledge and expertise as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College at Philadelphia's Thomas Jefferson University.
