I string routers, switches, and computers together, and then teach them to talk to each other. I also work on Windows and Linux servers as well as Exchange email servers, though I admit I am not quite an Exchange Ninja yet. My previous gig was at America's then number 1 rated classical music station. So I also got to maintain a streaming media system where we streamed 5 channels of classical music in three different formats, 24x7x365. Not to mention learning the joys of the NexGen radio automation system. I also know a little Visual Basic, Python, and PHP, but mostly at the dabbling level.
I've been know to fiddle around with music, hence the ViolinHaxor name on Twitter, but I would hardly call the screeching I make playing the violin. I'm also a big music fan in general, and have volunteered with out local public radio indie-rock station for years.
I'm also active with the Fremont Arts Council, and I was the announcer for the Green Hat Ensemble in last year's Summer Solstice Parade, where we raised a record ammount of money to pay for the parade.
I also have a thing for vintage Esterbrook fountain pens, which some people find odd, as I'm left handed. I think it is mostly the fact that I spend so much time doing things digitally that I appreciate the anachronism of using a pen that's older then I am. Then again, I also shave every day with a vintage Gillette Aristocrate double-edged safety razor that is older than I am.
