Chris Bolognese

Mathematics Educator and Tutor in Columbus, Ohio

Chris is a passionate mathematics educator with 21 years in the classroom where he currently teaches mathematics and computer science in the upper school at Columbus Academy. He is a 2021 State Finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). He received the Buck Martin Award in 2017 as the high school teacher of the year and the Central District high school teacher of the year in 2016 award from the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Recently, he completed his masters in data science and is a 50CAN Data Science Fellow.

Chris is a regular presenter at state, regional, and national conferences where he presents about technology, rich tasks, math circles, and problem-posing. He organized the Mathematics Educators Convergence in 2019 attended by mathematics educators across 11 different states. He is the cofounder of the Columbus Mathematics Teachers Circle - a community for mathematicians and math teachers to explore cool mathematics. As the mathematics department chair at Columbus Academy, he organized the first-ever ‘Math Meets Art’ exhibit, inviting artists from 5 different countries to showcase mathematical art. Additionally, Chris is a Desmos Teaching Fellow (Cohort 4), the previous editorial panel leader for the NCTM Mathematics Teacher journal, and a past staff member for the Park City Mathematics Institute (PCMI) Teacher Leadership Program.
