Throughout my entire 18 years of life, there has been a total of 5 months where I have not had a dog. Being a dog person is one of my foremost character traits. Right now, I have two dogs, Han (left) and Chewie (right). I got them when I was 14 in the eighth grade, and since then I have made nothing but fun and lasting memories with them.

Although Chewie was the biggest of his litter and Han was the smallest, They have both grown into being about the same size. Han is a little on the chubby side though, which is a good change of pace from when he was severely underweight as a puppy. We always knew Chewie was going to be a big dog due to his comically large paws he had when he was a puppy.

Although they are great dogs, like with every living thing, health problems come along with them. Just like how we get stomach problems, anxiety, and sore hips, so do our pets. We found out the reason Han eats so much is because of a disease he has which causes him to always feel hungry. That paired with his incredible fear of loud noises causes many non food items in our house to be eaten by him. His favorite thing to chew on seems to be blankets, and he has even had to have surgery to remove a long piece of blanket from his stomach tract.

I like to refer to my dog Chewie as an old man, because he is very grumpy and very lazy. It is not his fault entirely though, as he was born without hips and needed to get surgery early in his life so he could develop muscle in his back legs. This only makes the times when he runs around and plays all the more special. Both my dogs are my best friends and I miss them very dearly while I am away here at UGA.
