For the past 21 years, Bonnie Sudderth has served Texas citizens as a Judge. After earning her Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law and offering legal advice in private practice, Bonnie Sudderth was appointed to the City of Fort Worth Municipal Court, where she ruled in cases involving city ordinance violations and Class C misdemeanors. Bonnie Sudderth soon advanced to Chief Judge; in this capacity, she managed all 5 municipal courts in the Fort Worth Municipal Court system and managed a docket in which more than 300,000 cases were filed annually. When the 352nd District Court in Tarrant County faced a judicial vacancy in 1996, Bonnie Sudderth won the Republican primary election and the seat. Bonnie Sudderth has been reelected three times, and she still holds the position today. Throughout her judicial career, Bonnie Sudderth has devoted herself to assisting current and future lawyers. Bonnie Sudderth regularly speaks at continuing legal education programs for Tarrant County Bar Association. For several years, Bonnie Sudderth taught municipal court judges as a faculty member of the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center. And, since 1999, Bonnie Sudderth has enlightened students at the Texas Wesleyan School of Law as an adjunct faculty member teaching about Texas trials and appeals, as well as civil motion practice. In this position, Bonnie Sudderth earned an Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member Award from the school's alumni association. In addition to associating with local professional organizations such as the College of the State Bar of Texas and the Eldon B. Mahon Inn of Court, Bonnie Sudderth remains active in civic affairs. At the Rotary Club of Fort Worth, Bonnie Sudderth plays the national anthem on the piano every month. In addition, she is a regular contributor of her own hair to the charitable organization Locks of Love, which uses the hair to make wigs for children with cancer. In 2002, Bonnie Sudderth's ruling that postponed the forced closure of a Salvation Army facility used to store gifts to be distributed to those in need during the Christmas season earned her recognition from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
